You can also FILE A COUNTER-CLAIM againt the person or company who sued you. This will make them sick as it will spoil their lawsuit against you. You will now be in the driver's seat for a hefty settlement.

If you are in state court, then you have the right to REMOVE THE LAWSUIT TO FEDERAL COURT, and assert a counter-claim against your adversary too.

Once you remove the case to FEDERAL COURT, the state court must stop all actions against you, and allow the case to proceed in Federal Court. Your adversay may have to hire new attorneys, as they now have BIG TROUBLE that they did not originally expect in suing you.  You remove the case to FEDERAL COURT by filing a NOTICE OF REMOVAL in the U.S. District Court (Federal Court) and also providing a copy of the NOTICE OF REMOVAL to the state court proceeding.
